2/11/07...Slow bite
went out on the mound pond today, started around 1:30, used a "thumpit jig" from skiptomylu, and caught a couple of keepers, and then could only entice the dinks. wound up quitting around 6:15 with 4 fish. 1 decent crappie, around 1 lb. Water temp was right at 40 degrees, and caught most of my fish around a beaver dam on a levee. no pics this time, but I'll try to have some from the night stalk next weekend. today, the fish were real tight to cover, even though it was pretty cloudy. they were biting the jig on the fall, but that's it. I think you had to get right in front of their nose to get them to take it. If anyone ever needs to buy hand tied jigs, I highly recommend skip at thumpit jigs. he makes a real nice durable hair jig. http://www.thumpitjigs.com

Randy, it may not have been the best of days, but at least you got a chance to get out on the water.

Thanks for the report Randy, you did much better than I did. I've looked at Skip's jig, they sure look good. Will have to give them a try.

Well at least you got to go. I had to turn down a trip to Conway with CEB. Then I got a call to go to Lake Side. A private lake with LOTS of good fish.
BUT. I do have my yard pass for next weekend!

Hey Randy I am really glad you like the jigs and I really appreciate you posting about them. Hope you have a better fishing day soon. I know I am looking forward to the spawn getting started.
