THANKS, The weatherman said it may be safe to fish this weekend, I hope to hit the boat ramp early Saturday morning. Am curious what the water level and clarity will be at El Dorado?
Fished Eldorado yesterday from about 0700 to noon and the water clarity was slightly muddy on the main lake to very muddy up north and old blue stem. They were letting water out of the spill way when I got there but had shut it down by the time I left. Water level wasn't much over normal but with the gates closed look for it to come up. www.swt.usace.army.mil is a web sight you can check water levels for the lake. It was so windy it was hard to crappie fish but did catch some good green fish.
Good luck tomorrow and might see you out there Saturday afternoon weather permitting
Thanks for the info Skeeter. May be doing some catfishin, caught some nice cats at Harvey East last Sunday.
Talk to a guy Wednesday that said he was catching some nice blues below the dam at Eldorado before they shut the water down. Not much for catching the slimy fish:biggrin
But I have a friend that been wanting to go so I might take him out Saturday afternoon and fish for some cats myself. Is drifting old blue stem lake for cats with shad a good place to try.
I never tried for cats there but would be worth trying. The sailboat cove is good for channel cats.
We have camped at shady creek and fished the Bluestem bank for several years. Usually caught smaller channel and only one small blue in that time. Now that I have a boat have not drifted bluestem enough to comment. We did drift into the night on the main lake about 2 weeks ago close to the walnut / dam area and caught a 5lb 24" blue and a 3lb channel. Both after drifting for over a hour late about 11pm.
Just reminder the bluecat has a slot limit anything between 25-35 can't be kept.
In the bluestem area check the east end where the channel comes up next to the bank. That should be productive if the water temps are up.
Also the navionics web app shows some hot spots for bluecat which is close to the sale boat cove that DRFISHDUCK mentioned. But no personal experience there yet.
One last thing is that we have had good luck using fresh cut white perch if you can't locate the shad.
Good luck! and report back if you can..,
Thanks guys for the info, I saw the BLUE hot spots on Navionics and might try them weather permitting Will let you know how it turns out
