Houghton Lake Panfish
Another good day on Houghton Lake yesterday chasing bluegills and crappie. The bite was on all day, and the fish I landed were decent size. About 70 total between crappies and gills. With a dozen bass to boot. There was only one issue of the day, the big fish were willing to bite and I could not get them in my kayak for nothing. A half dozen gills that were in the 10+ inch range, a couple real slab crappies, 14 + inches, two largemouth pigs in the 3 1/2 - 5 pound range, and one big 20+ inch smallie, all on my ultralight 4 1/2 foot rod, all in my hand at the side of the kayak and escaped before I got them the rest of the way in the yak. Just one of those days that we all experience from time to time. And what a paddle it was once I got back on the main lake. The north side of east bay was definitely not the place for a novice kayaker yesterday between 5:30 and 6:30 pm, but I enjoyed the heck out of it. Reminded of my days paddling the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. What a rush. Good for the soul.Attachment 239577Attachment 239578Attachment 239579Attachment 239580Attachment 239581Attachment 239582

Very nice!! Will be heading up there this weekend for an annual trip a few friends and I do. We target the walleyes but I always catch a lot of different fish there, would love to just try for some pan fish all day.
