Do any of you use a volt meter or voltage gauge for your trolling motor battery. Which ones work best? My gas motor has not worked in years and I just use the trolling motor battery and i'm always crazy paranoid that i'm running out of juice. I'm to old to work the paddle.
By the time you bought a half decent one and got it wired you payed for 1/2 a battery. I'd just get me a new deep cycle battery and keep the old one in boat charged up for a backup.
Do you have room for two deep cycle batteries? If so, wire them in parallel and you could probably fish all weekend on one charge. With it wired like this, you are still running it at 12v, just pulling smaller amounts off two batteries simultaneously rather than just off one battery.

Most fish finders have a volt meter on them. If you have a fish finder hooked up to it you could look at it and see.
You can adjust the display on the hummingbird units to show that information or show something else. You can also set a low voltage alarm if I am not mistaken.Quote:
