Tire Help

Hey guys.... I am having to buy a new set of tires already because my trailer was not properly assembled from factory and fenders were rubbing my tires because there was not enuf clearance. Got my trailer all fixed up now and needing tires. Was hoping to find out which tires were better than others? I was looking at my same tire (Carlisle Radial ST 175/80 R13) but have options of 4,6, or 8 ply tires. I know the stronger ply's will generally last longer but....doesn't that also compromise the haul? (Rougher) #beat my boat and trailer to death? Any experience or suggestions will be much appreciated! I know nothing in the tire field.

Carlisle are good tires....always get trailer tires....get radials and get the highest load rating you can get for your tire size...and always inflate to the max that is written on the tire.

Go with the 8 ply, longer life and ride quality won't suffer. They all require the same air pressure and that's where you get your cushioning. Think if you look at those lighter tires I bet it says on the sidewall 2 ply with 4 ply rating.

:hesaid Having lived in Western Arkansas around the Mena area, the dirt roads over there shredded tires regularly. What Cray said is what I learned from experience and asking the local tire guy who was also an avid fisherman.
