Smithville

I am trying to take my 4 year old fishing tomorrow. We do have to fish from the bank since I don't own a boat. My question is this, is it worth it to drive from the Fort Leavenworth area to the lake with it being flooded? If it is worth it where is the best place to take him? I have not fished Smithville at all. Thanks.

I would try the Dam and Litton area or Camp Branch Marina area or Sail Boat cove. The the water is up but they are easy areas to access good luck. Attachment 238622 Attachment 238623 Attachment 238624

Why is the dam so popular to fish at? Alot of people are catching decent amounts there. Is there something I'm missing?

Wow, Rodfather, now that's some good info right there with specific places marked on aerial maps. Best I've seen on here in a long time.

To the op, Rodfather pretty much gave you all the common places most people fish at for crappie. As far as bait, try roadrunners and jigs, and you're gonna be weeding through a lot of small fish before you catch a keeper since those places are heavily fished. If you bring minnows, buy twice what you think you'll need since you'll be feeding the dinks to get to the keepers. Good luck!
