Need some pointers on taylorsville lake never been there before ? What ramp ? Wife pointed at the map and said let try this lake
Settlers Trace is the ramp we use. Crappie fishing was smoking hot last month. I do think its returned to its normal pace productivity wise.We sat over the fish Monday and threw everything at them but the
kitchen sink and it was slow. We both thought it was pretty busy this year but with the bite slowing down and the word getting out people will back off I think.
There are always people who arent regulars and just try to jump from one hot spot to the next rather than commit to one lake. Its nice because were a half hour away.
I caught an 11 inch female and a smaller female. I ended up putting them back from the live well. The wind came up and we headed in. Seems everyone else had the same idea
and boats were stacked waiting for the dock six deep. On one side an older couple with her in the boat, as he got the trailer, which is understandable. On the other side a guy taking up another side and talking to her and sauntering
up the ramp at a snails pace. His whole ordeal went on way to long. I still love the lake and we find fish there most times. We dont fish there weekends to avoid all the people. We usually fish the area of Jacbobs Creek
right off the main lake. For you leaving Settlers Trace thats heading out turning right. The people are always very helpful and Kentucky friendly. I do think that there will be one more pretty active phase this month.
There are a lot of old timers that will catch crappie all season and even in the dog days of summer they entice them onto the hook. Have fun. Its a simply beautiful lake.
I have fished Taylorsville for the past 6 weeks hard. My best year ever. However, it's over pretty much. We caught 20 to 30 today with only 5 keeps. Today was my first day in two months without a limit. Move deeper and get the jigs down.
Do a search for "Taylorsville" ... in the Advanced Search link at the top right banner on this page and it should give you lots of good info, reports, pics, etc.
While I agree (& use) Settler's Trace Marina ramp is the biggest ramp, and easiest to access (put in/take out) ... the Possum Ridge ramp is close by and is usually less crowded for launching/trailering. It's just a little longer & steeper walk from loading dock to the parking area. Either one will put you in close proximity to a popular area to fish. The other two ramps, Van Buren & Chowning Lane, are up in the river end of the lake.
You'll want to keep tabs on the lake levels, using this site : Louisville District Daily Lake Report or by calling the COE lake levels hotline @ 1-502-477-8606
Concentrate your fishing in the first 20ft of water, around standing or fallen trees, and you'll find the fish. And you can always check out this site : https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer...qS4lXWxvnanG5Q ... for GPS locations of the Fish Attractors placed in the lake by the KDFWR. (stake beds, stake buckets, pallet structures)
