Minn Kota Riptide Ulterra TM

Entered an online drawing from Minn Kota for subject TM. They were giving away three and I was a very lucky winner of one of them. I will speak with them on Monday about options. Motor will be going on a 17 foot Tracker Pro "V" with a 90 HP Merc. Shoud I go with a 54" or 60" shaft length? I'm thinking 60" as I can always raise it with a push of a button if I get in very shallow water. If I am given the option of 80 lb thrust or the 112 lb thrust, which will be best? I think 80 lb is more then enough for this boat, plus 80 lb is 24 volt and 112 lb is 36 volts. Not sure if I have room for three batteries. Going to buy two brand new TM batteries. Any suggestions for battery type. Thanks.

I've never heard anyone complain that their trolling motor was too big - too small = Yes, but never too big.
You can get three Group 24 Deep Cycle (the smallest of the automotive sized batteries) and never really tax them.
For the shaft length you will have to measure and perhaps contact a local dealer of your boat to see what they reccomend.

With the Ulterra the 54 will be plenty, if it were a terrova I would say 60, the longer length helps with stowing the terrova but the ulterra does that for ya!!! Awesome prize, congrats.

54/80 like Rees said 54 plenty long for that boat and 80 will work hard all day on that boat and not put a dent in batteries. Get group 29's and have fun installing them. Tongue in cheek.

What Cray and Rees Guide said. I have 2 series 29's that I got from Wally for about $200 out the door that I can't run through in a day, even in the windiest conditions. And I'll bet my Bass Boat is heavier than your rig. Heck of a good deal there, congrats.
