How important is the speed the jack plate raises and lowers? I'm looking at a CMC PL-65, which is the slow model. Like 22 seconds from total bottom to total top. Newer model is 8 seconds. Looks like about 8 inches.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If you triming out your ride like Torch was talking to us about at camp....then I think I would lean towards the faster one. If your just lifting it for shallow running I would go with the slow one.
Speed of the jackplate is a non-issue in 99.9% of the applications. For the most part you will find the "sweet spot" and leave it there most of the time. In ruff water you can lower the motor and your boat will handle the waves better as it will keep it's "bite" better. In shallow water it can be raised to navigate the shallows easier but in your case you have a low water pick up on your motor and tilting the motor pretty good is a non-issue. They are nice but get put to practical use rarely, reason I don't have one yet, I just run mine a little low and rock.
Doesnt matter. On my Skeeter I have a manual one and never had a problem. I just found the level it runs best in and left it there. It cannot be adjusted on the water.
Your application, speed of travel is a non issue.

I appreciate the input, it has helped me make up my mind. I found a slightly used one but is the slow model. Now I see y'all's point and if its still available tomorrow, ima get it.
