JPP report April 30th*
Got up at 4:30 AM to check the weather to see if it would be safe to go out on the lake Saturday morning. The weather report looked ok, so we headed out to the lake. Picked up a dozen minnows and a dozen shiners on the way to the ramp. I put out 4 jugs for catfish with shiners on them and started trolling crank baits. The rain started right after that. I was thinking, great we're gonna get that 30% all morning, then my fishing buddy for the day said "Hey, you got one!". We forgot all about the rain as the crappie were biting the entire morning. We ended up with 19 nice keeper crappie, 2 hybrids, a channel catfish, a white bass and a nice yellow bass. The biggest crappie was a 14.5 inch white crappie. To top it off we caught a 23 lb blue cat on one of the jugs. What a great morning of fishing! It was worth every drop of rain that fell on me!
There was a guy fishing in a kayak nearby that caught a 32 lb blue cat on a crank bait. Shortly after that, he was trying to free a hang up and flipped off of his kayak in 25 fow. We reeled everything up as fast as we could and headed over there to provide some assistance to him. We got him back on his kayak and went back to fishing.

Sometimes the rain pays off. I bet a cold kayak rid back to the ramp.
