Tville 4/23/16 Report
CrappieSnob and I got to fish Sat from lunch time till about 8 o'clock. It was really crowded and 95% of the boats were beating the banks. We tried my proven spawning grounds and only came up with male Dinks. We figured the little cold snap had pushed the females back a little so we fished an area of deeper standing timber I knew held fish. Thump! Then I decided to scan over one of my mid depth brush piles. The sonar lit up with heavy yellow arch returns. Bingo again!
We fished four of my mid depth brush piles and really caught the egg laden females. CrappieSnob really put on a clinic, as there were times all I cld do was net the fish and hold us away from the brush.
Water temp had pushed back to 66 deg and was still at summer pool. Clarity was a little clearer than I like, but it sure is pretty. We ended up with our limits. Fourteen of the fish were 11"-12". All the females were full of eggs, with most of them still being firm. If I had to guess, the second wave of spawners are on the banks today. A friend of mine from work is goin tonight. We shall see!

I was getting worried about halfway thru the day but we were able to figure out the pattern and get on the females instead of settling for the dinky males. That's why I love crappie fishing: Every day is a challenge. Thank God for the BEAUTIFUL day and the chance to fish with my brother one more time.
