Headed down wed morning to fish and camp at Sugar Bay. From what I'm hearing I probably should forgo the state built stick beds and move out to deeper water. Anyone have any comments on this?

I'm heading out with the wife now and haven't been on the water since Monday so any report I have will be 2nd hand. Word is the crappie and gills are all over the place, some shallow, some deep, no defined pattern. I've been hearing of some huge gills being caught in water as deep as 18 feet by guys longlining jigs.
The state stake beds will every one have at least one boat tied up to them. Use your electronics and cover water. Some crappie are spawning.
I would not want to influence anyone on where they should fish. I am not a good enough fisherman to be risking a guy's fun and success on anything I say. I would however be interested in a follow up report on where you did the best. I would be surprised if you did very good past about 1/2 way to maybe 3/4 way back in the coves or creek arms. Good Luck on your trip,be safe and catch some fish.
I agree. Will be down there wed. Starting my search on flats and main lake points and then venture from there. I'm sure i will find them somewhere along those routes. Will post an update.

From what I'm hearing. Fish are scattered. Run and gun approach but you never know. Rain and fronts coming through so will keep you guys on point
