I am having a problem with interference of some sort in water deeper than 15 feet using the factory default settings for Shallow Water and Fresh Water. Attachment 236401
The transducer is mounted on the trolling motor and the interference occurs whether it is running or not.
I'd forget the default settings & go into Advanced Mode ... and not use the "shallow water" setting & just set the depth range to 5ft or more deeper than the water depth, and see if that clears your screen up.
I don't know as 15ft of water would be considered "shallow water", anyway ... so the shallow water setting may be useless in that depth. :dono
I can't see any speed reading on your screen, so if you were sitting still ... a lot of those marks across the screen could be stationary objects sticking into the sonar ping, whether it's fish or a tree limb.
I have the Elite 5 DSI ... so that's what I'm basing my assumptions on vs what I'm seeing on your screen. I also use the 800kHz setting all the time, and the "blue" palette setting. This is an example of what type of screen image I normally get :

It just shows a better, clearer image to me ... than does the multi-colored palette settings, which are just too much color clutter for me. But then ... I did go from 2d b/w depthfinders to the Down Image color unit, without ever having a color 2d unit between them.
And, I also have my transducer mounted on my trolling motor ... and it's even wired through the power wires of the trolling motor ... and I haven't had any problems with "interference" caused by the trolling motor being run.
Im not sure if that model has the chirp overlay but my elite 7 ti has is and it has a lot of crap on the screen when it is on.
Looks like fish or brush under a boat that isn't moving to me.
I thought that too at first, but it is intermittent and it doesn't matter if the boat is moving or not.
I decided to replace the unit completely as a new transducer would cost almost as much as A Hook4x with downscan.

Sounds like you have it figured out. A new transducer should have costed you $80-$120. If that is the problem, I would guess its in your wiring configuration.
For future reference I believe lowrance considers water up to 40' as shallow water.
