Not sure what all this means but I do know the lake has not been at full pond in a long time. More often 8-10 ft low. Splash boards have been gone for several months. If you know anything at all about the lake you know how dangerous it can be when just a little low. Currently, virtually impossible to fish safely. If you do go be extremely careful when going above the the first island.

This is not true at all, the lake was at flood stage in December and January, and has remained within 1 foot of normal pool for a long time. The only time it is drawn lower is for board replacement on the dam.Quote:

From what I understand, the boards have been gone for a long time, so if it is low, then why haven't the boards been fixed? I like fishing Blewett but when the water is just a little low, everywhere is dangerous. Stumps lie just below the surface, and I have hit them running fairly slow, always be careful on Blewett, it is notorious for tearing up lower units and props.
Boards have not been gone for a long time, they are replaced each time they wash away. The lake is dangereous, with lots of stumps just below the surface, but the lake has remained at a constant level for long long time.
There was a tournament there last Saturday. Maybe one of the guys that fished it will chime in with its current condition. It can be dangerous, but it also has some big crappie.
Not looking for an argument......just telling folks what I have seen when on the lake. The last time I was on the lake was 2 weeks ago and the splash boards were gone. Maybe they replaced them and were washed away in between my trips. I just called the lake level number (800-899-4435) and at 6am this morning the lake was 2.2 foot below full pond and expected to drop, currently bypassing water. (Tillery is at .3 below full pond)
Everyone I have talked to for the past few weeks says all the boards have been gone for a long time. Hopefully they get it fixed and the lake comes back up to normal level.
This is a shallow lake, fished it all my life until I was about 30 or so. It is full of stumps and many right under the surface, but that is also a huge plus as well. You do not have to worry about the gunning bass boats, jetskis, and the weekend pleasure riders. All you use to see was fishermen and not too many of those. Great crappie lake though. Nice cats in it also.
My understanding is the boards were lost last fall. Duke has to be able to pull the lake down a couple of feet below the crest of the dam and hold it for the days it takes to replace the boards which isn't an easy task. As you know, its been very wet this past winter. They can only pass so much water through the turbines so if there is more then that coming down the river it flows over the crest of the dam. Until flows stay down for a while don't expect the boards to be replaced.
I wasnt trying to argue, I monitor the lake levels at Blewett and Tillery and they stay in a very small band. At Blewett it will not get to full pond, because that would mean the lake would be spilling an excessive amount. The level that the lake is currently at is the normal level.
