2016 CrappieFest results
Another spring Crappiefest has come and gone and this one is one to remember, "The Day of The Wind!!" :)
The day started out with us having a time getting everyone signed in of the tournament with the FLW tour having a event on the lake at the same time. With some calls "when the phones has service" we were able to get everyone signed up and ready to hit the lake. The fishing was one of the hardest days I have ever fished because of the unbelievable winds had the lake rolling for most of the 5 1/2 hours we had on the water. Everyone seen a lot of bait and fish on their depth finders but in all areas of the lake the bite was slow to none.
We had 12 boats with 26 fisherman, and 4 kayakers fishing the tournament with 11 teams weighing in 5 crappie limits. As with the bite the weights were low but our fisherman, fisher-woman and kids kept a smile on their faces all day and fought through the hard contentions.
For the teams that had kids signed in to fish their tournament the teams weigh-in went to the kids weight. With three teams with 4 kids fishing they were champions of the day!
First Place - Danny with his back up fisherman Gfox
Second Place - Brandon with his back up fisherman Stump
Third Place - Sonya and Sarah with back up fisherman's Grandpa 2 & his wife.
Congratulations to the Kids!!!! :fish
For the adult tournament,
First Place - Gabowman & Allen
Second Place - Sinkermaker & Mark
Third Place - Danny & Luke
Fourth Place - birdawg & bringingblood
Big Crappie - Sinkermaker
Congratulations to the winners and all that fished!!!!
The fellowship and meal was outstanding!!!! I want to Thank each and every one that came to the CrappieFest and the ones that gave their time to do the cooking and preparing everything for the meal. I also want to Thank all that helped with the raffle, couldn't do these events without the help everyone gives so readily.
To all the companies that gave to the donations I want to Thank, Slab - Southern Crappie Rods - Charlie Brewer's Slider Company & to our members that gave donations, hard to name them all but Thank you from my heart to each one of you. Our members are the best!!!! :)
Some pics from the day and look forward to next years event. It's always great to see old friends and to make new ones and I hope everyone had a safe trip home.
Pictures on the next post.

You know...every year we try to pick a date where the fish should be tearing it up and the weather should be GREAT. So far I think we have struck out on the weather but as always the fishing is so-so to outstanding and everywhere in-between. And...the food and fellowship just couldnt be better. This year we had several old friends that had other obligations and couldnt make it this time and we also had new faces/friends that did make it. For those that couldnt make it you know you missed a great time. Hope to see you at the next one if the good Lord is will and the creek doesnt rise too much.:) Even with the gale force winds I think (like at every Crappiefest) everyone went away at the end of the day with a great big smile on their faces. I know Allen & I did and we both enjoyed it as much as all the other Crappiefests we have attended.
This fall Ronnie, William, and I are already talking about having something down on Clark Hill. I think it will be much simplier than the Spring Crappiefest with a good day of fishing and adding some fellowship time towards the mid/latter afternoon so everybody gets plenty of fishing in. You aint gonna want to miss this one because on the hill you just never know what kind and size of fish the next bite will be.
Guys, much thanks to everybody that came to support the event this past Saturday and to all that gave donations as well as chipping in to make the event go over as smooth as always. It was alot of fun...always enjoy all the tall tales at the dinner tables and also getting to see old friends I dont usually see other than at the events like this one. It's always good meeting the members that havent attended these events too.
Ronnie, William...thanks for what ya'll do to sponsor these events and as always I enjoyed it and am already looking forwards to the next one. :)

PS: For the ones who fish Lake Russell alot, if you find a new pack of Kalin( bumble bee) floating I hope you catch plenty of fish with them. lol! I hate for them to go to waste. lol!

I would like to express my thanks to everyone as well for putting this together. Even with the terrible winds, the wife and granddaughters had a super good time. (BTW Ronnie, the girls are Sonya and Sarah). It was nice to meet all of you and I did see some familiar faces that I remembered from my tournament days a while back.
Can't wait for the fall fest on Clarks Hill!
