Drift Sock Preference
Thinking seriously about purchasing a drift sock and have noticed there are many different manufacturers out there and i have no knowledge about them and which ones are better quality and which ones are not good. Anything you can share will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Knappy

I bought some cheap ones from Academy Sports. They are around 3ft wide and work well. In a hard wind, slows my 18ft fish n ski with windshield wind catcher down to 1mph. 2 socks down to .3mph. Haven't had a problem with them at all.

Cabelas brand has been good for me .

All depends on wind speed and boat it's blowin around.
Had a couple of the ones that have the p.v.c. coating and after the second year they were too stiff to fold up good for proper storage.
Just a tip to get the regular thin material ones...

Cabelas are best on the market. Expensive but not as much as some. Dry quick, easy to handle and store and will last forever if you take care of them.

I concur with Cabelas. One thing though, if you are buying just one, make sure you get a much larger one than what is recommended for your boat length. I'd suggest at least two sizes larger than what is recommended.
