Grand River Report April 1
Had a few minutes on Friday so grabbed a rod and headed to the river. I had an idea the water would be high and muddy and this proved to be true. I was throwing homemade spinners in a color I call construction barrel, orange and white stripped blade with orange and white beads. This combination put a dozen coho in the freezer last fall. I was hoping to stick a steelhead below one of the local dams but after an hour of trying all I managed was a hammerhandle northern and what I think was a smallmouth that spit the lure. While the water wasn't quite what I was hoping for, the sun was out, the birds were doing their thing and I was sharing my fishing spot with a bald eagle. Not a bad way to kill a little time.
