Striker has a chartplotter feature where Waypoints can be created (and returned to) on a blank background (similar to small handheld GPS devices) ...
Striker and a Navionics phone app would still be a very functional Setup ...

If my second unit plays out that is what I will buy. If the pictures you see are even close to what you get I'd be tickled.
Correct ... Striker will not link to anything ...
The Navionics phone app can be used on the phone itself ...while the Striker is showing the Sonar ...
Kinda like 2 stand alone devices ...where you watch both and control each independently from the other ...

I just bought one of the strikers. Like you I decided maps was no big thing for me. This is my first real fish finder other than an old cheap one that came on my boat. I've only had it out twice but I am pleased with it so far. It seems very user friendly. I'm still learning how to interprete everything but the images are very clear. Overall I am pleased with my purchase, plus it's giving me an excuse to get out on the water more to learn how to use it.
