Anybody here tie jigs?

I've been tying flies for trout for about 15 years now, but have never tried a jig yet for crappie. I looked in the section on tying jigs but most of the contributors/jig tiers were further north of Alabama. I've been primarily a BG jig fisherman but have been thinking about tying some jigs with a few of my old trout patterns (woolybugger, squirrel tail etc) to see if the crappie would take them a little faster with the action of the material on the jigs. Anybody have any luck here in North - Mid Alabama?

Caught a bunch tonight on hand tied jigs!! The crappie will take them in a heart beat.

Just started tying my own jigs but it seems the crappie will suck them down as often as a minnow

Been using hand tied for 20+ years

All you need to do is tie up some woolly buggers (minus the hackle) on a jig head. Chartreuse and white are the only colors you need.

Yes sir, they work very well, I would say 40% or more of my fish come from my ties.

The first fly I tied and mastered was the Wolly Bugger - thanks for the intel. I'll get busy and tie a couple of dozen this week.

Been trying for 8 years , this season I got my neighbor involved in tying he has no previous experience. He was with me on Weiss last week and his hair jigs out performed all soft plastics in the am. He used fox hair and craft hair with a mixture of crystal flash. Oh he caught the biggest fish too with those dull looking jigs. Opened my eyes! Browns, blacks and blue jigs were on fire!
