Got on the water around 4am. Caught a nice male on minnows about 6dt deep after that nothing. My buddy caught one 16 inches on minnows also. These fish are hard to figure out right now. But soon I will be on them.

Nice report, Thanks!
nice fish. I'm with you man, this spring has been a struggle. I've caught a few fish in every different type of fashion, but just can't consistently put it together. I would figure a ton of fish would be in shallow waters starting to the spawn, but that hasn't been the case in my recent experience.
We have had a strange time trying to figure them out up there the last 2 weekends. The last 2 times we long lined up there we started about 7:00 to 7:30 am and on the first pass we caught between 4 and 7 keepers and on the return troll another 1 or 2 then NADA for the next 3 hours or so both times , nothing but an occasional Shell cracker. I have no explanation as to why they shut down totally other than maybe that was all there were were in the area or maybe they went into lock jaw mode. Happening 2 times in a row though made it tough! There is plenty of grass in the Scottsboro area and we Long lined in both 3 to 4ft on out into 7 to 8ft . We caught more green trout and Shell Cracker than Crappie!! Maybe we should have gotten there and started in the dark around 5 am!!
Good report thanks. It's got to get better, it's really been a struggle last week and a half.
