Where to go?
I posted a report a couple weeks ago on Cumberland where I took my 8yo. We caught a few nice ones but that was due to one small honey hole I lucked up on. I'm taking my boys again this weekend and not sure where to go. My experience is definitely on Cumberland but I was hoping the water had come up a little. Looks like it's dropped 7 feet or so since I was last there which has me concerned about finding the right kind of cover. I've been hearing some good reports on Green but have never been on that water. Just looking on google earth, it looks like it doesn't have a ton of cover either until you get way up in the creeks although that can be deceiving.
So, I'm trying to decide on where to go Saturday to hopefully put my kids on some fish. Any recent Cumberland reports? For green, would anyone care to share some tips to a newbie on that water. I'm mainly a bass guy so I'm not set up for pushing, pulling, spider rigging, etc... would just be casting jigs, cranks, bobbers, whatever.
Thank you... glad to post report wherever I go.

They have been catching some around Burnside Island and up Fishing Creek in the standing brush, but I don't know how deep or with what. Green has an abundance of cover scattered all over and at any depth if you have the electronics to find it. All you have to do is put a split shot above a jig and let straight down to the depth you want. I would tip the jig with a minnow or crappie nibble. You should be able to cast the bank if the water is warm enough because I caught some last week 3 foot deep in 5 foot of water. Hope this helps. Dave

thanks. I saw your report on what looked like a good day. What ramp would you recommend coming from Somerset?

I have good electronics, HB 898 SI at the console and lowrance hds9 on the bow. Just looking at the satellite imagery, I would look to start somewhere past the bridge toward the river. Hoping the navionics would help me navigate that safely

Are you talking about Green or Cland? Lees Ford or Burnside Marina either are easy access from Somerset depending on where you want to fish. On Green I would put in at Holmes Bend and go up towards the 551 bridge and look for lay downs on the sunny side.

Sorry I was talking about green. I've been on Cumberland many times and am familiar with that lake but your recommendation on where to put in at green and what direction to go. That helps.

I went to Cumberland last week and had little success til i found them shallow at the end of the day..... had some friends that found them early in the day shallow in fishing creek and had really good days. Look for stained water and the new growth trees 2-6 feet deep in 7 or 8 feet of water. I am going to try my luck again and this is where i will be

For Green River, launch at Holmes bend ramp. There is a ramp in Casey creek up above the bridge but not usable at winter pool. There is a marina at Holmes bend also. Hope this helps!!

Echoing, Holmes Bend. If you go out left of there there is a creek arm on around a bend that had good cover in it the last time I fished there. I even put some stuff in that creek arm a long time ago.
Fish lay downs and check the points on all the little cuts for brush. May even see if the state still has a fish attractor map for green.
