Seat open; April 2nd, 3rd, and 4th

Newbie here to Crappie.com also to Lake Barkley.

I will be coming down from Northern KY for a high school baseball trip on the first week of April in Madisonville. We play Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

My plan is to fish Lake Barkley on the weekend before with my nephew. My boat is only a 16 footer with a 9.9 hp, with trolling motor, electronics and such so I'm hesitated on fishing Barkley, fear of small motor.

Fyi, my boat has been on Cave Run Lake many of times, I dont mind the slow ride. Which leads me to another option of fishing lake Beshear? Advice?

So to keep a long story short (oops too late). If anyone interested on fishing at Lake Barkley, with me and my nephew, please PM me. Also any help with boat ramp info, where to launch from or where not to launch from, or anything that will help my first trip to Barkley. Much appreciated.

Eddy Creek or Little River has a lot of places to fish with out leaving the bays. Be careful the lake is still at winter pool I would suggest studying a good map if you don't have electronics with mapping.

Thanks, greenwing. Yes I have been studying my sportsman's connection and gov maps. Eddy looked good because location is on the north end, closer to the highway than littler river.

Lake Beshear is not much of an option, in my opinion, not when compared to Lake Barkley. In addition to Eddy Creek, I would suggest traveling just a bit further to Lake Barkley State Park. It is worth the drive. All of the Little River area is accessible to a small boat without getting out on the main lake and there is a lot of good places to fish there. Many of the rock banks in the Goat Island area should be productive for your dates, particularly if you can find wood of some time like stumps, or lay downs, etc.....and particularly on sunny afternoons.
Plus there is always the chance of hanging into some great bluegills and shellcrackers (redear).

You are the third person to mention Little River and the second for Barkley State Park. I believe I have a good outline of a plan for that weekend. My nephew is the KING of bluegills in our family.

I ran into a couple of guys 2 weeks ago that found some nice red ear casting the banks for crappie on Barkley.

Red ears!?!? So I must wear a cap on my bald head. Just joking. I will post next week on my set plans, it's looking like camping at Barkley State Park and staying around Little River. Then hopefully post a great report with photos. Also, if anyone wants to meet up, we still have a seat or two open on the boat.

I would say x2 on eddy creek. Go there very regular. Very good fishing and many lodging options. Marina is extra nice with fantastic cleaning station, good restaurant inside. Could fish several days and never leave the bay.

Thanks kywareagle, I am going at least one day in eddy creek but starting on Little River. Depends if we catch and traffic on Little River, if we go one or two days at Eddy.

I have read to many good things about nothing! Can't wait! Work messes up soo much of my fun ��
