Weiss sat march 19

Took a couple of good friends sat. We fished the bays and creeks on the upper Coosa. Some have fish in them some do not but should have soon. We pulled 4 planer boards and ran 2 flat lines out the back in 3 to 6 fow. Caught a lot of shorts but ended up keeping 25 for my buddies. The eggs in the fish we cleaned indicated the spawn is still a little ways off. We had 5 really good fish between a pound and a half to 2 lbs the rest 10 to 12 inches. Fishing hitting blue and chart. color baits best for us. From what I see and gather from my other guide buddies a majority of the fish are still deep. Fish being caught around Embo Island, Bay Springs and Yellow creek. Next two weeks should be good. They better hide I'm off all next. Week.

I have recently purchased 3 sets of planar boards and Haida question? I have been told that if I want to pull a 1/16 jig at ten foot at a particular depth 10 ft for example to put 11.5 ft of line out behind the board. Does this sound correct? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

We fished up river on Thursday and Friday and had 30 keepers each day and catching over a 100 fish each day to get them. Tons of short fish on Weiss right now. We did have a couple that were 2 lbs or so. We heard of several 3 lber's being caught last week also. It is about ready to explode at any time, that's for sure!

That sounds good but not real sure. Don't make it rocket science. I've been pulling 1/24 jigs and 1/32 road runners fishing in 4 to 6 fow. I put the boards at different depths and see what fish want. Crappie will feed up better to be too shallow than too deep IMO. If I were fishing 10 feet deep or more I would just long line without the boards. Landing fish is more difficult with that much line out.

I pull boards a lot in East TN. We use 1/8 oz set speed at .5 - .7 and simply set them at the depth we want to fish. Seems to work fine.

lund man, i use this formula for the 1/16 jigs and it seems to work pretty well, the extra foot to foot and a half of line at .8 to 1.1 speeds will take care of the sway back of the jig and bring it to the depth you want or a little higher, which wont matter at all for crappie
