I'm new to the site so forgive me if this was asked already. But which type of plastic lure does every prefer? Curly tail grub, tubes, paddle tails etc.
Thanks

:welcome Welcome to the site from South Central Mississippi. Whichever the fish likes best. You need a few of them all. You will never know when they might quit biting one. So you will need to try a different type or even color. Even the way you present it may need to change say a fast retrieve to a slow one or vise versa.:twocents
Swimbaits and plastics....from my signature.
I still think Z-man has the best plastic on the market....their Curly tail is fantastic and beside being indestructible, it even moves at Super slow speeds...since it floats.
I was just given some Z-man BIG Swimbaits to try on my 3 week vacation to Florida in July. We'll be doing alot of ocean fishing and I wanted something tougher.
Curly tail grub if I had to choose one. Push em, pull em, cast em, and even vertical jig them. Will catch small and big fish from baby bluegill to striped bass! Lots of color combos fir them also. Fresh or saltwater, they produce!

Wally Marshall Shadpole and Slabalicious for large presentation! Katlin curly tails for small presentation.
Probably curly tail
If you have been in a boat with someone else, sitting on a spot loaded with fish. And they are catching a fish on every cast , and you can't catch anything. And they just turn and smile at you once in a while. And you scramble through your lures tieing on one after the other and maybe finally find something that catches one now and then. But the other guy is still catching em on nearly every cast, after a while you need to swallow your pride and say " give me one of those things".
I have been the guy watching, and I have been the guy catching. And I have seen it change from not only day to day but hour to hour.
Buy an assortment of everything. An constantly experiment. If you get on a hot lure that is slaying em on some lake trip after trip for say three or four times. And then you go and do the same thing and they won't bite. Well you just figure" man they ain't biting today", "and I know cause I been catching em,and if they don't bite this then they are just shutdown."
When you may have tied on something else and caught something. Or changed location and bait and caught something. I keep trying things until I find something that seems to totally fool the fish, one they don't short strike,or follow to the boat. I want one they are smacking hard and quick when it gets to them.
Somedays you don't figure it out. But the more you do,the more you will.
Stinger tail shad type plastics for me ... since I mostly cast & "push" jigs. (like a "Shadpole", "Slabanator Shad Body" or "Panfish Assassin Tiny Shad")
Second to that would be the "boot tail/paddle tail" style. (like a "Slabalicious", or "Charlie Brewer Slider Grub")
... cp :kewl
Mo's grubs to match my painted heads. but I've been getting my plastics from the guys on here.
I like to have some of everything just in case but I catch more fish on stinger type baits like Bobby garland. Also marabou jigs are probably my second favorite.
