Weekend weather

So I'm new to fishing in general, let alone crappie fishing. It seems Mother Nature has decided to slow down spring and give us some cooler weather. I had planned all week on getting out early Saturday (for my lake that means 8am when it opens) to try to go after some spawning crappie. I know it's not supposed to rain here in the triad until later Saturday, which might cool the water down, but will this weather cool the bite down? Will it change your tactics? I enjoy paddling around the lake but I do enjoy catching those fish too! Any insight or opinions are welcomed and appreciated.

I am in the same exact boat, literally. I have been looking forward to getting out all week this in my kayak and trying it out but I am in TN and it looks like I will be waking up to some rain. Hoping to still get out and try it though.

Yep beautiful all week and then junk on the weekend. Looks like they have moved up shallow and started a little so the cold weather will probably move them out a little, but nothing too drastic I hope. I am going to start throwing jigs to the bank and see if I can locate a distance and depth then change to minnows. My son loves minnows and a cork.

Well it looks like they have softened the cold air in the forecast so hopefully it won't be too drastic. High of 60 on Sunday. Good luck to all!

The morning started fantastic! Calm water and almost warm. But it quickly deteriorated to wind and light rain around 10am until I got off high point city lake around 12. I was able to catch as many crappie as I would have like had I been able to stay on one spot! I ended up having to put my hands in the water (61 degrees) to warm them up after being blown across the lake in my kayak. Largest one was 9" and I did catch a very egg laden catfish. Cool morning to go fishing. As I paddled out this morning there is an island north of the marina that had a ton of these black two foot tall duck looking birds in the trees. It was kinda ... Creepy? The birds in the trees may be cormorants. Probably are, but I can't make out much in the photo on my phone.
