Santee Cooper lakes
Judging by the pictures it looks like crappie has made a comeback. What do you all think? How do you guys mostly fish trolling jigs or cranks? Minnows on brushpiles? Crappie I have to say is my favorite freshwater fish and one that I have not pursued enough to figure out. I know both lakes pretty well but don't know crappie that well. I hear of people fishing deep brush in the summer and fall but haven't tried it. I have a boat with trolling motor. I am planning to go to Moultrie Friday if the wind isn't to bad. Any tips would be appreciated. Keep the posts and pictures coming from all the state it keeps me hungry. I really enjoy them.

Early spring-tightling is best. As water warms trolling jigs is best. Late spring, into summer and fall, brush can't be beat. Jigs or minnows both work equally well for brush fishing. Winter can be a toss up depending on how cold and muddy water conditions become.
