I am retired and can fish anywhere in Arkansas on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. I live between Little Rock and Perryville, but if I get my buddy to go we can split the gas and not have to spend all of our social security checks. What lakes would you hit in lieu of all this fresh water? I am a single pole jig fisherman, but do have a couple of spinning rods that I can hit the water with. Thanks!
Welcome to the board. They will still bite in high water on any lake. I would pick a lake of my choice, and go fishing.
You are pretty close to one of the beat crappie lakes in the state, Harris Brake. I think I would save my gas money and see what you can get to bite your jig.
Thanks guys. My buddy wants to go to DeGray. He has a pretty nice boat with a 90 or 100 hp motor whereas I just have an old 14 ft aluminum with a 15 hp. I hate going to DeGray because I always come home with my shoulder hurting. Those stinking hybrids try to tear up my gear every time I go down there. They are definitely not a gentleman's fish like a crappie :)
I think Matt has a good idea. The places I fish crappie on DeGray would be tough as they are all in the upper end of the lake. Same with Ouachita, not to mention the storm damage in that part of the lake from tonight's super cells. Wherever you go good luck, be safe and we love pictures.
The fish are still biting. The fish do like the water, when it's rising they move up, when it's falling they move back. Crappie are very sensitive to changing water levels. You won't hardly ever see them get trapped in shallow water holes when it's falling. They move quick.
