Fishing Kentucky Lake Questions

I Was looking to get some feedback from Illinois fisherman that head to Kentucky Lake. I have been going for years but have never ventured more than 10 miles south from the dam, I usually fish around there,Jonathon creek and go to moors or big bear. fishing has always been great but am thinking about venturing south a little bit more. in your opinion is it worth the extra drive south into Tennessee? is the fishing better or worse? if so do you have any recommendations on were to stay (on the water with a dock don't need anything fancy) thanks in advance for the reply's, didn't know if it was worth hauling the boat a bit further south was worth it or not.

We go further south and like it a lot. We actually put in right on the KY/TN state line, Cypress Springs Resort ramp. We rent a house a couple hundred yards from the resort and a covered boat slip at the resort. Usually we cross the lake and fish Panther Bay and Dry Fork Bay. Some really nice fish in there.

I’ve been going to Kentucky Lake annually for about the last 12 years. My first 3-4 years we stayed at Moors and fished around there while visiting Johnathan and Blood River occasionally. We really enjoyed staying at the Moors as the accommodations, people, and restaurant were all very nice! We did ok fishing in this area but eventually decided on traveling further South and fishing the Big Sandy area. For our style of fishing we have done much better and really enjoy this area and have gone back every year for the last 7-8 years. We stay at Pleasant View Resort now exclusively and don’t venture any further North than the power lines in Big Sandy. In fact, most of our fishing is done in the West Sandy warm. Pleasant View is also an awesome place right on the water in the back of West Big Sandy. We are headed back down a week from this Sunday.

All a matter of preference as I think this is an amazing fishery. Good Luck!

Kenny and tsherman thank you for your info and sharing your experiences, I will look into those, I think I am ready to try something different and venture out a bit. With the excitement of trying a new spot I also have the fear of not being able to find any fish but I guess that is half the fun!

We fish the Paris Landing area and always stay at the Fishtale Lodge. They both have been good to us.
