Wind! Wind! Wind! Barnett Report Day Two
Run and hide was the name of the game today and proper boat control was key. Winds blew straight 20 gusting to 35+, but the fish didn't seem to mind. Launched at Tommy's and ran upriver to try and find some calmer waters. Found a good ledge off the main river channel protected by some tall hardwoods. The water was calm but the wind was still a factor, without a steady focus on handling I was shooting upriver at 5mp+. Caught more fish on straight jigs seemed to catch better quality when tipped with a minnow. Myself and two other boats worked that same ledge all morning and all walked away with a limit before noon. No 16"ers today but had several 13-15. You know what they say, if you want to learn to catch fish in the wind, then you have to fish when it's windy!
