I'm curious on this one myself.
Smartstrike is designed to highlight matching areas of the lake by inputting your custom criteria into the product ...
This could potentially benefit someone fishing a new lake with limited time ... or for tournament fishermen that need to eliminate dead water fast ...
The new Smartstrike software update will not turn your existing LakeMaster map card into a Smartstrike capable map card ...
You must also purchase the Smartstrike LakeMaster card ...

Mrdux, I see in the other post that you said your running a Helix 10 DI, since I'm still working on deciding which one to buy if you don't mind I may ask you a few questions. I guess my first question is are you running another unit with SI, since the Helix 9 SI is actually $100 less than the Helix 10 DI? Or does the extra screen size make that much difference being that it's only 1". I'm just trying to make the best decision before I go and make a purchase. I currently use a 597 DI, never had a SI and kind a figured SI was the only way to go these days.
I just rigged my new Excel Bay Pro 203 (bought from BRM on the MS Forum) with the new Helix10 and a new HB1199HD/SI/DI, both bought from Brian at BBG Marine(see a pattern here?). I wanted the largest screen I could afford for both the console and the bow. SI serves no purpose for me on the bow. I will only use it when I am at the console and looking to locate new areas for crappie and gills/redears. I wanted the best DI image available and couldn't be happier with the Helix10. I have my H10 transducer mounted on one of Podunk Ideas da'ducer apparatuses. My rigging is strictly a product of the way I choose to fish. Trolling is my choice 90% of the time.
I will say this. A good friend of mine recently switched over to Lowrance for years using Humminbirds. He is a vertical jigging guru and wanted the best DI image available at that time frame so he went with Lowrance. When he saw the pics I made of screen shots from my Helix10, he said if he had known they were coming out with something that detailed, he would have never switched.
Hope this helps. IMO there is no substitute for buying the largest screen you can possibly afford.
Thanks mrdux that makes since, I went and looked at those da'ducer apparatuses and pretty sure I'll be getting me one.
