Kayak Trip Report, Bradford Sinks
I fished Bradford Sinks on Redstone Arsenal this morning from 6:30AM till about 10:30AM. It took me a couple hours to locate the fish, but I finally found them 4 to 5 foot deep in 6 feet of water under schools of shad. The best bait was a 1/16 oz White or Chartreuse Marabou jig. I started out spider rigging 7 poles, but had to drop to five once I found the fish. I kept a limit of Crappie, returning many, many more to the water including four that were over 15 inches. I spent much of the morning with fish on two and three poles at the same time. This was by far the best day I’ve had in several months. The fish wouldn’t move up in the water to take the bait shallower, but would hit it hard when you were at the right depth.
The water was clear and 50 degrees at daylight. I’ll post pictures later this afternoon when I clean the fish.
