Ruined Season
You guys are probably used to seeing me post Black River reports once or twice a month during fall and winter. I have been able to go fishing a total of 3 times this season, all in November and early December. The rivers down here have been flooded out of their banks since mid December. A little high water is manageable, but the water has been unsafe. I don't mean to complain or rant, but it is extremely disappointing that this time of the year that I so look forward to has been completely rained out. Barring another downpour, I may be able to get a few trips in towards the end of spawn. I rode over the Cape Fear in Riegelwood today and it is still way beyond flood stage. Glad you lake guys are having a decent season and I've enjoyed seeing your posts. Maybe I can make a showing towards the end. Good luck and tight lines.

I feel your pain Friedfish. I got a summons last week that informed me the Sea Dancer was sueing me for neglect. The Jordan people were complaining about the COE holding water in Jordan but they had to. We could not stand anymore water.

The delta I fish is the same but we have that every spring :dono

A lot of our hunting land was flooded this past fall and winter. Water was too deep for a w4 wheeler and ground was too soft for a truck.

yeah I was only able to hit black river twice, 1 in nov, 1 in dec. if it dont go down soon the spawn will be so far back in swamps we wont get near em. 4 or 5 more degrees and the whiting will be here. you should go to jordan at least once, but I warn you, it will ruin you. easiest crappie fishing in the state. and plenty of them.

Thanks for feeling my pain guys... I was able to hit White Lake yesterday, and during Februaury/March that's usually a guaranteed mess of yellow perch and chain pickerel. The water there was very high, just barely able to launch. And even there the fish were tightlipped. I can usually troll cranks and catch pickerel till I'm blue in the face.. only caught 3 trolling. Put out some longlines with minnows and gulps and caught two more pickerel and three perch. Better than nothing, but still pretty disappointing. I appreciate the tag along offers, but between work and family I can't even plan a haircut a day in advance. I'm thinking I'm gonna try the big lake at Boiling Springs next chance I get. Don't know anyone that fishes there and can't find ant reports, but I'm hoping there's some crappie in there. Starting to look forward to some delicious Atlantic Bonito here soon. Just wish I could get in a couple more good crappie trips.

About 6 years ago during the big drought we had, boiling springs lake completely dried up. I mean not even a trickle of water there. I cant say for certain as i do not fish there, but i do not think you are likely to do much damage there.

Just looked and Jordan Lake is still 4 feet above normal. You'll have lots of water coming downstream for several more days. Hopefully the weather patterns will change soon.
