Hello,
Do pond fishing mainly.
Nearly always use Mepps Aglia, as they seem to be the best thing in my box.
Question: for you experts, when do you find a dressed Aglia is better than an un-dressed one ?
e.g., what conditions is one style usually better ?
Same question, but related to Crappie, Smallmouth, and/or Largemouth ?
Any dressed vs-undressed differences here, usually ?

Had to Google that name never heard of that brand be for. We call them roster tails. In my experience the color is all that matters. I'm sure some will have a different opinion but this is what I have found.
Years ago I would use the what we called the "squirrel tail mepp" to catch yerlin size bass in the farm ponds in early spring. These ponds were shallow and warmed pretty quick and I caught bass pretty good with them. I never used the undressed ones but I believe they would work just as good as the flash of the blades probably had the most to do with bass hitting it. I used the gold bladed one when the water was dingy and the silver on clear water. Bet I have not used one since the 1970's I just crappie fish now only catch bass if he hits my crappie baits.:twocents

The rooster tail is a different bait. (The difference is the blade. The Mepps has a true "French" blade. So does Blue Fox.)Quote:
