Whats your thoughts. Since I get off work at 1:30 now I could be at the lake by 2:15, but I rarely if ever fish after 2pm. 99.99% of the time i'm pulling into the area Im going to fish when I can barely see my rods. Normally by noon or so i'm heading home. I've found I do pretty good until about 10 and things slow way down. Your thoughts.
I'm sure it has a lot to do with moon phases solar/lunar tables e.ct I also think it varies from lake to lake. On Weiss I think the morning is by far the best time to fish. Weiss is notorious for the mid day lull. I grew up fishing guntersville and nickajack and it did not seem to matter there. sometimes they would bite early sometimes late. When I can I try to go early and stay late so if they bite I'll be there
I think the morning is better but I've had good luck in the evening to. Now casting to them the evening is better.
I go from 9am-4pm. Usually I catch 2-3 between 10-12 and then nothing bites after that, using live minnows. Also, here the weather has been acting up. Cold, then warm, then cold, the rain, then hot, then storms and then now back cold. Lay Lake is murky.
I am planning to go to Lake Purdy and rent me a boat and try there. People have been racking up there lately! But I have to save up money and rent a boat. I don't have a boat and bank fishing isn't doing any good for me. I keep catching bluegill. I had someone earlier offer me a boat ride, but I had to take my dog into the VET to remove a Tumor, so I missed out on some fish probably. But my dog comes first. Good luck with your fishing. Maybe one day I can get out on a boat with someone and do some trolling. People aren't very trust worth these days.
Well I'm going in the am tomorrow and after work on Friday and we will see. Think I'll try pm on Sunday as well after work. I went most of the year without crappie in the freezer last year and I'm use to catching enough Jan thru mar to eat it at least once a week along with a few big fish fries, so I'm determined to get on the lack this year. Weather has sucked on most of my off days so far.
Yeah, I'm off Friday and Saturday. I might go. We just had a bad storm and now it's 40 degrees outside. I like to fish in the 60 degree range. I might skip this weekend and go next weekend. I am going by Wal-Mart here in a few to pick up some of these Crappie Nibbles and a few new floats. Good luck sir on your Crappie trip! Maybe I could put some bells on my poles and bring a flashlight. Haha. When I was stationed in England I use to fish at night off the cliffs and had little glow in the night tips on my rids.
I've had some great afternoons long lining. I think the fish move shallow as the water warms during the day. I fish a little more shallow in the afternoons.
My best bite this season has been 4 p.m to 8 p.m on minnows. I have caught crappie this year in the mornings and jigs worked better.
