Rod information please

I currently fish with a 4wt rod for sunfish only. Small flies and small poppers that I tie. I am looking into buying another rod for stream bass fishing that may handle a little larger poppers and streamers. Not wanting to spend a ton of money, so looking at basspro shops white river series. A couple questions:

1). What is the difference in the "Dogwood Canyon" and "Honbs Creek" rods?

2). When fishing for these bass, would you suggest a 5, 6, or 7 wt rod? Likely the most common weight I will catch is 1 - 3 lbs largemouth and small smallmouth.

3). What length rod? I've heard people say, and read, that 7.5, 8, 9ft, etc. is the only way to go. What do you guys suggest?

I posted in another thread recently and was directed to use a larger tippet on my 4wt to help with throwing weighted flies on it, which I will also try, but would a larger rod be beneficial to bass fishing?

With regard to other rods to consider...what do you think of White River series? Good, bad, ok? From the description at the BP site, the WR rod has a faster action than the HC rod. Other than that, they seem pretty similar. For what you're doing, a faster action might be a little better. If possible, handle both rods.

I would agree with deathb4disco. The only thing about the rod selection is I would lean towards temple fork as they have an outstanding warranty policy.

They do indeed, and thank you for joining the conversation!

Sorry if I am a little late to this conversation but I feel that how a rod feels to in your hand is paramount to selecting the "right" rod. I have quite a few rods as my brother was a custom rod builder. Some that I consider slow and ponderous have been judged as excellent by some of my FF friends. As D4D said try both rods. Being more expensive does not automatically make a rod "better".
