I was fishing the Spring River arm on the north end of Grand Lake in Oklahoma the weekend before last when I heard a dog howling.
My fishing buddies and I rescued the pup. I recorded the event and posted it to YouTube. To my surprise someone found the videos and wrote an article. I thought it was pretty neat.

Those guys did a great thing. We may hunt and take fish but inside every outdoors person is a large streak of compassion. That video and those guys prove it. They could have gone on their way, glad they didn't. I have a dog that I got much in the same way. I found her in May of '09 and she is the poster dog for rescues everywhere. All we look for in a dog is there in her. My wife would dump me before she ever got rid of "Emma". I won't steal their thunder but I will post a couple of pics of the day she was found and as she is now. We talk often of how lucky we were to find her. We got the better end of the deal.
