While fishing in the summer, everything I read was, Man! wait til the water cools off and the temps drop, you'll be catching Crappies by the boat load! :popcorn
Air temps this morning below 40, water temps 59. Started about 7:30 am, never had a nibble til 9:15. Ended up catching 11 brought home 8, just big enough.
Best part was, I caught most on jigs I have made, and also Shinee Hinee.

I just ordered 2 packs of each type Shinee Hinee earlier today for my trip in March to Astor. Hope they produce the same results!
The fish shouldconcentrate more when he water cools, its just a matter of finding thatconcentration of fish. Easier said than done. That concentration mayoccur on the staging flats during pre spawn or near cover during spawn. Fishingdifferent areas may help you identify these concentrating fish. I am in asimilar rut. I’m been maintaining a 7 fish average between 7-8 lbs (for the top7 fish) since the beginning of November. There have been exceptions but thatresult seems to be bankable. With that said I’m fishing the same areas, I dovary my presentation. I’m only catching the open water fish because I prefer torun a thousand rods (more like 18-20 rods). It’s my understanding ( I may maybewrong) that I’m catching the pre-spawn fish and any fish that maybe transitioningto the spawning location. Haven’t done any “bed busting” yet, that comes later.I don’t know what your fishing now but I would mix up your location selectionby targeting likely spawning locations and then maybe falling back on what you’vebeen doing. That’s the advice I would give myself…. But I love a sure thing andI hate to burn the morning on something new.. but nothing ventured nothinggained. Tight Lines

That's great advice, and yeah, I've got kinda hung up on spider rigging. The wind and my tin boat, keeps me from fishing some lakes I would like to try, but there will come a day. Thanks for taking the time to reply, very much appreciated. :ThumbsUp

No problem,Marv, just my two cents. You’re doing pretty good though from what you’ve beenposting. I got bored of the same results a couple months ago. You know whatcured that? I went to a different Lake I had never been too and got spanked(Lake Henderson). I did terrible. That unsuccessful trip really made meappreciate the “average” days I was having on my home waters.
Good mess of fish to me. Being able to go when you please is part of the best part. Catching them on jigs you made is just wonderful. Keep after it, you're doing fine.
