need some help finding a lake far enough south to shoot docks and get out of winter

I know alot of you trollers fish Talquin and some of the other lakes in north Florida. I'm a dock shooter and have a brand new boat that I can't stand to wait till the freeze is over in middle Ga. Any suggestions as to a southern lake that is pretty good on dock shooting. All I've ever heard on Talquin is trolling but I'm hoping someone can point me to a lake within a days drive that has docks deep enough to hold fish this time of year. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Waited along time to get this boat and I'm going stir crazy. Scott

Blackshear is loaded with docks but muddy right now . several landings on the est side close to deep water docks cedar. creek is mid lake and lot of deep water docks in that area . have caught them shooting shallow docks at state park area .

Talquin is full of docks. I don't know why fish wouldn't be under them. I just always troll when I go there. I have shot some docks on Lake Eufaula with ok success. But that's in the summer time, always troll in spring time.

I'm familiar with blackshear but figured it was too muddy and not quite far enough south. On Talquin looking at my navionics chip doesn't look like any of the docks are in more than 4-5' of water. Figured even north Fl. you'd want10-15' or better. Could be wrong just depending on water temp and how far along in the process they are. Anyone know what the water temp at talquin is?

For the next week or so, you will have to drive to Okeechobee to get out of the cold. Even Crescent is expecting temps below freezing this week.....Good Luck!!

I agree with TnT it's getting to 28 at Talquin Wednesday. Eufala and Harding are the furthest south that are good dock shooting lakes. Many of the Florida lakes are good casting and vertical jigging structure.

Blackshear is a good dock shooting lake . in the summer time you need to get there early before the pleasure boater start . cooler weather most any time i have pulled fish from docks 6 Ft deep in the summer time they would be war to the hand .like hair jigs best

Astor Florida cause they are bigger and Mo of them.
