Hey all, here is an underspin pattern I tied. Going to sale these in my retail store.
What do I need to do to improve them?

00 blades I think (had so long I don't remember!)

I think that's a good idea to sell them in your store. Of course I should say this is just opinions and take them as they are.
Now if you really want to know what to do to improve them there is a lot you can do.
First thing would be to also offer them with marabou and hackle tails.
Other things is colors, get good one that people like and work. If you don't believe in a color it's going to be hard to sell it!
I am not one that like to tie Red bodies though and I wouldn't have that as I would find that hard to believe it's popular so selling Red is not best IMHO! If it was Black and FL Yellow chenille I would like it for example. You can see my favorites on my site any time you want to look. I do know all my favorites catch crappie and lots of them. Also if I am going to tie a Red bodies, it's going to be Crystal or Estaz so it has some flash.

I have a question. Is there a chart somewhere that shows what size components for what size hook you are using? I was just winging it here and haven't had a chance to go test them to make sure they spin.
The reason I used the red chenille is just because I had some open from another project! But, I've sold lots of red bodied/green chart. baits in plasics around here and it seems to fish good so we'll see?
The roadrunner is king on our home water's during the spring (spawn)The 1/16 oz is sold out. We like the underspin'sbecause a local guide showed us the under spin's outfish the roadrunner because it is more balanced(like a real minnow) On our horsehead/ponyhead mold's their is a chart that gives us a guide,Hook size,blade size ect. We like a 1-2 in blade size(match the hatch) minnow size on our lake's)Good tie will hunt.
Looks good to me as long as the blades work properly. Red body I'd not my favorite ether but I have a friend that is the best fisherman I know and he loves red and chartreuse. I will agree with skip might want to do some in marabou too. I've used all kinds of stuff for tails but marabou is by far my favorite all year long.
You have to know who the Mfg. of the blades are to know size correct on some sizes, like #0 at one place is #00 at the other.
Blakemore uses a #0 on their 1/32 Oz heads and I believe a #1 on the 1/16 Oz heads The main thing is you don't want the blade so large it turns the jig round and round. They also use a #2 Split ring on the 3 sizes I have, 1/32, 1/16 & 1/8 oz. I use the same size, but I do also have some #1 size that I like, but not necessary. For sure I do not ever use a smaller one that that as I see no reason to do that. Oh and I do believe for the 1/8 you can go to a #2, but I have some Willow Leaf #2's and boy they are large, but it will work.
Oh one other thing, if I am using a 1/32 Oz Pony head which in reality weighs in at 1/24 Oz I use a #1 Willow Leaf blade and probably only if I use a Willow Leaf blade.
I do find the Pony heads great, but a bit funny since the weight on the small ones is off, but the 1/16 is very close!

luremaker, did they spin ok? I'm thinking of rolling some of these of my own and curious on component sizes.
love me sum belly spinners I do .....the willow blades are especially cool
them look like the will ketch fish to me ...
According to a guy who tested them out for me the Colorado blade did well. The willow had to be cranked hard and fast to keep it spinning.Quote:
