I mounted a SI transducer and it seems to work fine except for while on plane there is a lot of water coming up in to the transom. There is sort of a "roster tail" coming up from the transducer.
I assume that I have it mounted to low below the hull causing the water to shot upwards.

probably right.......I mounted over to side of transom away from any turbulence I have the bottom front even with bottom of hull and the back dropped just slightly.
If it's causing a rooster tail it is too low
Did you put the little plastic/rubber plug thing in between the transom and the transducer? If not, water could be shooting between the transducer and mount, causing what you are describing.
What gtlegs said, the spacer helps but will not eliminate spray if your transducer is low.
Thats one of the reasons I bolt on a plate thick enough to screw transducers on. That way I can change transducers or move position easily.
This is what I plan on doing. I purchased a few blocks of 1" seaboard from eBay for a few bucks. This way I can add or move transducers without putting more holes in my aluminium transom.Quote:
