The End Is Near
We've got ice on all our ponds here in Mass, but nothing thick enough to be safely ice fished. Even though we've had some cold days, still only 1.6" of snow thus far this winter! As of today, most of that is gone. And we are getting days with day time highs approaching 40 degrees! That's simply amazing for this neck of the woods. My daughter, down in Maryland, is expecting 2 FEET of snow for tomorrow! That'll just about shut down the state! No snow storms predicted for us up here though.
Some more good news for us New Englanders. We've reached the coldest daily average temperatures and are now headed north! Two days ago the average daily temp rating was 31 degrees, which was the turning point. Yesterday it was 32 degrees. And each day here after, it will rise. We just need to get through February. Then the possibility of open water becomes increasingly likely. :)
It was 18 degrees when I got up this morning, but next week the temps are suppose to get up into the 40's. What an incredibly unusual winter we are having! I just hope the folks south of here don't have too bad a time with this latest storm to hit the mid-Atlantic states.
Can you tell, I'm getting pretty antsy! :)

This winter is like the one we had a few years back. I got out on the ice twice that year. Going to try my luck on Sat. We're heading to the Berkshires.

I remember going to the Sportsman's Show in West Springfield a couple of times, and going fishing afterwards! Looks like this might be one of those years. I'm not complaining mind you! :)
