Harris 1-15-16 report
Fished Harris Friday before the rain moved in. Fished 7 to 1 and we caught about 25 fish about half were crappie and the other half were white perch. Fishing was slow but picked up an hour before rain started. Fish are deep in about 30 to 40 feet of water. Water temp was 49 to 50 degrees. Fished minnows and caught fish both on bottom and bait minnows suspended around 30 in 40 for water depths. Caught 4 in the 12 to 15" range. Any of you guys been out on Harris recently?

Went out both Saturday and Sunday morning with very little luck. Boat problems Saturday prevented us from really moving around very much. Sunday we tried many different spots and marked big numbers of fish. Only caught 1 perch. Talked to two guys who fished over night Saturday and they caught 10 crappies all night.

I was able to sneak out Saturday morning from 7:30 till 11 and ended up with 27 at Harris. Only had 6 over 12" this time. I started out slow trolling in 35' of water and it was slow. Got tired of fighting the wind so I anchored up and caught the rest. If I moved out of 35' the bite fell off. The guys around me were not doing bad if they stayed at that depth. I noticed the guys out in 45'+ weren't catching much of anything. I will say over the last couple of trips the white perch have been rather large. Nothing under 10" (most 12-14") and loaded to the max with eggs.

Had family visiting from Colorado and took them out for a few windy hours. Parents did not fish (no license), but their fourteen year old caught his first fish 14.5" crappie! Only fish of the day. I was so proud of him! Circle hook made the difference, I think.
Almost forgot - she was full of eggs - looked liked she'd swallowed a tennis ball. I'm thinking that's a good indication of really good enviromental conditions and forage.
