Hamilton is surrounded by homes with docks, Most docks (especially the ones with rodholders and light mounted on them) have brushpiles in front and under them.
Most of these will be around 18-25 feet deep. I know a lot of guys that drive over them and remember how high the pile comes to the surface then set their slip knot to that level, back off and fish a jig over them. There will be bass in most of those piles too. enjoy
There are a few guides on Hamilton and I know they pull cranks for them in the summer. A few calls to the local bait shops or google guides on Hamilton will get you started. I've seen the guides working out of the Clarion Motel boat launch on several occasions when at the Xpress dealer meeting in August and September.
I fished Hamilton last year it's a tough lake but try in front of the wharf by the bridge caught some large crappie there. If you have disi search and destroy. Good Luck !
Thanx for the advice.
On these brush piles around the docks, is it best to use jigger poles and jig them or cast out bring jig over the top of the brush piles? Also, any tips/advice on jig and bait color for Hamilton?
HooksettinArkie welcome from Nimrod Lake . Hope to see you post your results after you fish .
Thanks Nimrod. I've been reading post on here for a little while and have learned a lot. But not many fishing the lakes near me as much as the Central/north central area. Thanks for the welcome
HsA, i see your home lake is the big Q, you having any luck there for crappie or you fishing for those big strippers.
Those deep clear lakes beat me up, so can't offer very much insight. Back a few years ago we fish the Lake of the Ozarks with a guide, and he had us cast to the brush piles there. I think some of the good fish catchers on Maumelle do the same thing, so those techniques may crossover Hamilton. You can read the story of our guide trip with this link. See page 2. The jig that we caught on there was a Bobby Garland baby shad in Blue Ice (336).
