Thinking of switching to lowrance on my new boat since I put a motorguide xi5 pinpoint on it. I have always ran humminbird and minnkota so I need help understanding what I need from lowrance. Thinking of putting a hds 9 generation 2 to hook to the trolling motor and a 12 at the console with lss2 transducer.if I hook them together will I be able to see side scan from console transducer. The trolling motor has a built in transducer.
Yes. You will need to run Ethernet from the LSS2 box to both the console unit and the front unit, so you'll need two Ethernet cables. I did the same with my gen2 units and it worked great.
I am assuming your referring to a HDS Gen2 T. This is a 9 inch unit.
food for thought... I was interested in having down scan as well as traditional sonar on the bow. I went with the 9T and put a HDI transducer on the trolling motor. Yes, my Fortrex has a built in transducer that works well but it will not provide the "downscan" that the HDI transducer provides.

If your 12 on the consul is a Gen3 touch you do not need a separate box for the structure scan
