Oconee 1/8/15
I woke up at 2 a.m. this morning and couldn't go back to sleep so I decided I would go fishing. I left the house at 6:30 and put in at Long Shoals on Lake Oconee. My plan was to fish Richland Creek which I had never fished before. I talked to some folks at the ramp who said they would show me the way. They did. As it turned out it was C.D.C. member QuackHead 90 and his father (I think). They were kind enough to take me to where they had been catching fish all week. There were several others fishing in the area and all seemed to be long lining except me. I was pushing jigs tipped with minnows. I had 8 keepers by lunch time. After lunch I moved to Sandy Creek and caught an additional 12 more and ended the day with 20 fish. I caught most of the fish in 23-28 feet of water. The bite was best for me first thing and again between 3:30 and 4:30. The water temperature was 56-57. I met C.D.C member Dutch who was in Richland also. When I got to the take out I met Joe Parenza and his fishing partner. It was a great day on the water and it was good to put some faces with some handles. I also got some real good information from some guy who guides and plays golf but I forgot his name.:dono Thanks everyone for all the help. You made my day.
