Anyone know anything about ponds or know someone that builds them?
I have dug a few back in the day.
Are you damming a creek/gully or is it a "flat land" pond?
I'd check with our local district biologist Eric Cummins.http://fw.ky.gov/More/Documents/fisheriesbiologists.pdf
Your local County Extension Office has a bunch of literature on building and maintaining ponds. The Agent in Graves county is a specialist in ponds and impoundments. He helped me over the phone and by email when I had a Blue-Green Algae bloom last summer.
Just bought a new house with 6 acres of land. The house is on the front acre and the rest is behind it. Unfortunately there or no creeks or streams on the property to dam up or feed a pond. The back 5 acres slope slightly towards the house so I believe if I put it close enough to the house then the runoff from rains will help to maintain the water levels. And hopefully dont flood my house.
I work for McCain brothers excavating give Terrence or Fergus a call we can build anything you want
Check with your local Natural Resources Conservation Service office, thry used to build a lot of ponds and will have info on soil type if it is suitable for a pond.
