Does anyone use these rods and what do you think of them? I was thinking of getting a Heaton super sentitive, but it doesn't have spinning guides, and thought it might not suit spinning reels well. Actually, buck's ultimate looks like it may be a better rod anyways, but I'd like to know if anyone has one.
BTW, does anyone know who this infamous Buck is?
I have one but have not had a chance to use it yet.

the sam heaton super sensative and absolutely love it. ( 9 footer to be exact). You can cast it, if you choose, but i mainly use it for jigging around timber. Awesome rod!
The rod you link to looks good as well. Just dont own one.

I just used the Ultimate for a show I taped in Kansas. We were using heavy jigs (1/4 oz.) The fish were absolutely buried in the cover. I like the Sam Heaton rod, but not for this pattern. The Ultimate is a stiffer pole and it was GREAT!!!! I was using the 10ft.
If you buy one of these you will love it!

Cool, thanks Russ. I mainly cast and thats good info. In my experience the stiffer higher modulus rods are more sensitive for feeling hits and casting.

I have both , 8' and 10' ultimate and the sam heaton ss in 10' and am ordering it in the 7' today or tomorrow. I have never owned a rod that has had better feel and sensitivity than the sam heaton. Now and then I get caught daydreaming by a slab and see the tip get pulled down and have a delayed reaction and the fish is still there because of the soft tip and they dont feel the tension. I love my 8' ultimate, very good rod with good sensitivity and good backbone and can be used for about any presentation you want to use it for. The ultimate in the 10' is pretty heavy in my opinion for all day jigging but a good rod, I havent used mine since I got my sam heaton, I just have it stored in the attic. The heaton is extremely light and comfortable for all day use. I hope this helps
