Shawnee Bay Resort
After years of talking about wanting to visit KY Lake to crappie fish, my wife bought me a gift certificate for a fishing cabin. I am just starting to research around this area. Can anyone tell me what this area will be like? It is near Benton, KY and just north of Aurora, KY. Just curious if I will be able to fish in the near by coves or I will need to run far.
When would you visit this area if it were you? I know weather will play a role, but in general best time? I am flexible from 2-25 to 3-27.
Any other info is welcome! Can not wait to visit!

My opinion, later in march is more stable weather. I would go last or second to last week of march. Should be able to catch both blacks and whites during that time.
However you really never know on the weather. Could be 80 and sunny, could be 20 and snowing and blowing.

Any time in those dates will be good depending on the weather

I would book as late as possible. The crappie bite should be heating up and you might even get into some early redears. Just keep in mind the lake will still be at near drawdown and that area of the lake can be tricky to run east-west.

This is just my opinion but if I were you, I'd keep that wife a yourn. When you find one like her, ya tend not to appreciate them as we should. By the way, does she clean fish, dig worms?
