Report: Logan Martin 12/5, Neely Henry 12/6
Me and my son hit Logan Martin Saturday morning we got on the water about 6am, water still has a pretty good stain and a lot of current, water temps were 54-56. We hit several docks on the lower end of the lake where we always catch them this time of year. I fished jigs, my son minnows. Only 2 short crappie between 6:30-8:30 on the docks, then we hit 4 or 5 laydowns on steep banks, 1 keeper 2 more small crappie....At 10:30 we gave up on the crappie and decided to bass fish and we did pretty good hitting main river points, we caught about 15 spots and 3 stripes all on deep diving crankbaits, left around 1pm. Here is one of the spots (nothing to brag about) but I know everybody likes pictures:

Today I tried Neely Henry, I got on the water about 12:45, still stained but getting better, water temp 52-53, flood gates still open and both turbines pulling water, it is about a foot lower than last week. Hit three docks shooting jigs, caught 4 barely keepers (11-12ins) and 2 short crappie. The water was very calm and bait was everywhere on top in the mouths of creeks and the main river ledges. After seeing bass busting bait in two different places, I decided to bass fish. Caught 2 fat spots on crankbaits about 2.5lbs each on a bluff wall in deep water on the main river (both bass were less than a foot out from the rocks) and 1 LM halfway back in a creek. He was a little bigger than the 2 spots. I kept the 2 spots and the 4 crappie for dinner this evening, sorry didn't take any pics left the lake about 2:30pm. It was a quick little productive trip. One of the spots had a huge crawfish (almost 5in long in her stomach when I cleaned it) Didn't think it was a female or I wouldn't have kept it. Its amazing how well developed the eggs already are. I have thought for years now that some bass spawn much earlier than we think they do. I know everyone says its all about the water temp but I am convinced there are some bass that are spawning in early February every year.
