Don't know about the Motor Guide but cutting down a Terrova shaft is very simple. If the MG is carbon fiber, I would think cutting it down wouldn't be a problem. You may have to shorten the wires. Do all your alterations at the head end. Dreading the job was my hardest part.
Why Cut it.......... I run a 60 on my boat.
Because the way I'm wanting to mount it the head will hang almost 2 ft off the boat and it will be to high when deployed for spider rigging

Pull the head, disconnect wires from head. Get a peice of Aluminum angle that will fit in shaft. Make one small cut at a time using angle to protect wires then shorten wires if necessary. Just take your time and should be just fine. Like Mrdux said the studying on it is hardest part.
